While the pioneering Navy Fighting Squad 6 disbanded before World War II, it helped our military be prepared by developing modern dogfighting methods and carrier-based aviation. It did so in the Vought VE-7 Bluebird.
The Squad's mascot was Felix the Cat, an animation A-lister during the silent-film era. In the group's insignia, Felix is shown doing what he does best, falling into mischief, running into antics. With his signature smile and dinner-plate eyes, he's shown holding a stereotypical spherical bomb with a lit fuse.
