The lethal lads of the 85th Bombardment Squadron flew in the Mediterranean Theater, knocking the legs out of German forces in Northern Africa using a combination of Douglas B-18 Bolos, Douglas A-20 Havocs, and A-26 Invaders.
The 85th Bombardment Squadron identified with a jovial skeleton, outfitted in a dashing tuxedo and classy top hat, riding inside a red bomb. The whole scene is set against a yellow sky, and - as if he weren't sinister enough already - the skeleton is twirling a pistol on his finger.
