The 73rd Bombardment Squadron suffered heavy losses in Pearl Harbor. It bounced back, using P-47D Thunderbolts to exact revenge upon the Japanese via bombardment runs covering the Pacific Theater. Furthermore, the squadron is known for helping develop modern methods for close air-to-ground support. If infantry needed a machine gun nest taken out, the 73rd would swing in and drop explosives on that enemy gunner's nest.
The squad patch of the 73rd exhibits a bear with a gaping mouth, deadly jaws, and a cold gaze coming from devilishly red eyes. The bear appears upon a solid blue disc-shaped background with a yellow border.
