Instilling a victorious attitude was the ultimate task for the instructors assigned to the 470th Bombardment Squadron, which proudly served as an Operational Training Unit (OTU). Highly specialized, mission-crucial skills were instilled from the moment training began, so that each crew member could professionally man the B-24 Liberator, indeed a fearsome airframe in the eyes of the Germans.
Bomby, the beloved big burly mascot of the 470th Bombardment Squadron, is depicted here, as if sorely itching for a fight. Hes nonchalantly chomping at the bit, up in the air, on a clouded stage, and juggling his bomb payload. A playful warm up before releasing his deadly load upon the enemy.
Its easy to see Bomby is obviously a master of his craft, deftly handling explosive ordnance, with either paw, juggling the powerful payloads right up to the point of casting the bombs upon the enemy strongholds far below, behind enemy lines.
