Solely within the American theater of operations, this squadron was first tasked aboard the B-24 Liberator as an operational training unit (OTU), the 399th Bombardment Squadron was later deployed as a replacement training unit (RTU) when the B-29 Superfortress was assigned to the air fleets involved in US combative aviation.
The large, unmistakable top hat adds a classy flair to dealing death down below. In each bony hand on both sides of the skull, here depicted as an enduring symbol of the dreadful grim reaper, holds one aerial bomb each, to be thrown in rapid succession, relentlessly pounding away at the enemy armed forces. Note the smiling grimace with bared teeth, telling enemy squadrons that no quarter would be given.
