While flying the Consolidated B-24 Liberator, the crews of the 373d were primarily bombers. But, first, they had to be transporters, flying in their own ammo, tools, equipment, even fuel into whatever God-forsaken outpost they were now calling home. They attacked oil depots, fuel refineries, ammo dumps, troop concentrations, and transportation/communication lines.
The squadron's insignia shows a bear cub with a blue bomb tucked beneath its left arm and a bandolier of bullets draped over its right shoulder. The smile on his face is nearly innocent, but it hides a killer attitude ready to defend freedom at any cost.
