Operating in the European Theater of Operations with B-26 Marauders, a medium bomber, the 323d Bombardment Squadron aimed at troop concentrations, supply lines, and enemy airfields, among other targets, as assigned by gathered intelligence from other aerial reconnaissance units. The 323d was the first squad to use the B-26 in actual bombardment-upon-the-battlefield operations, and went on to earn a Distinguished Unit Citation while slugging it out in the Battle of the Bulge.
An angry goat with crossed forelegs atop a very large aerial bomb falling downwards shows the enemy our stubborn, relentless pursuit to destroy our opponents. The 323d even had an actual goat as a living mascot, which inspired their squadron patch. The patch is paying homage to the four-legged pet mascot creature, for keeping morale up among the troops on a high-octane level.
