To win the battle, you have to deliver the men and supplies. That was the mission of the 12th Troop Carrier Squadron during WWII, and they performed their duty with courage. Flying the C-47 Skytrain, which was the military version of the famous DC-3, the 12th saw action over both North Africa and Southern Europe during the war. They supported combat troops in Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia and towed gliders full of soldiers to Sicily during Operation Husky. The 12th Troop Carrier Squadron went on to support the Balkans partisans that were battling the Nazi occupation, landing their C-47s on improvised airstrips in the middle of the night. It was this seat of the pants, hair-raising flying that earned them a Presidential Unit Citation. The 12th flew into fame after the war as well, operating Douglas C-54 Skymasters during the Berlin Airlift.
The Aeroplane Apparel Company is pleased to offer this t-shirt sporting the famous logo of the 12th Troop Carrier Squadron. The emblem appears in all its glory on the front of this shirt, the saddled pilot slowing his shark-mouthed steed by yanking on the reigns so that a paratrooper can dive out of the rear of the aircraft. Below the airplane, a paratrooper and valuable medical supplies float gently to the earth under silken canopies. This t-shirt makes a great conversation starter and is a must-have for any WWII buffs collection.
